Thrilling new attraction coming to one of Ontario's biggest water parks

With warmer temperatures ushering in the summer season, one of Ontario's biggest water parks is getting ready to welcome visitors back for another year of splashy fun.

Bingemans Big Splash in Kitchener officially opens for the season next week, and this year, guests will be among the first to experience an all-new attraction called Typhoon Twister.

The popular water park, which has been operating for more than four decades now, is known as the largest of its kind in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and features all the classic fixings of a popular summer destination: a heated wave pool, a collection of towering water slides, and a splash area.

But the addition of Typhoon Twister takes things to a whole new level. For starters, the new attraction consists of four water slides, bringing the park's total to 13 high-speed flumes.

Typhoon Twister is more than just another set of water slides, though. Guests can choose from rally racer lanes and challenge friends to a race to the bottom, or hop on one of two giant flying saucers for what should be quite the exhilarating ride.

The park describes the attraction as "the ultimate mix of speed, competition, and splash." Is that enough reason for Toronto residents to make the trip out west? I think so.

Bingemans has been teasing the new attraction for some time now, building anticipation amongst park-goers who are excited to be one of the firsts to hop on Typhoon Twister. And it's safe to say the wait is almost over; it will officially debut when the park opens its doors on June 16.

Opening date will also mark the return of fan-favourite attractions like Spray 'N' Play, featuring a nearly 4,300-litre tipping bucket, and Full Throttle, which catapults four riders down individual slides into a splash pool.

The park will also feature special events like night swims and mini-golf sessions throughout the summer season, all of which will be listed on its events page on an ongoing basis.

The opening day celebrations will include live entertainment and a bunch of fun activities throughout the day, giving guests more things to do besides checking out the new slides.

Before the park opens, you can plan your visit and purchase tickets directly on the park's website. A day pass for the park starts at $43.55 plus applicable taxes. Those who think they'll be making frequent visits to the summer hot spot can opt for a season pass that is $109.95 plus tax.

The park is located at 425 Bingemans Centre Dr. in Kitchener, Ont.
