Parry Sound in Ontario is surrounded by nature and filled with small town culture

Parry Sound is an Ontario town about two and a half hours north of Toronto. It's a picturesque place nestled on the shores of Georgian Bay and a worthy getaway for small town vibes and natural beauty.

One of the highlights of Parry Sound is its beautiful beaches.

Waubuno Beach, located right in town, is a quaint spot to unwind and relax under the sun. With its clear waters and sandy shore, it's a good option for a relaxing day by the water.

For those looking to explore a bit further, Killbear Provincial Park is just a short drive away. Known for its rugged beauty and scenic hiking trails, Killbear offers stunning views of the bay and is a worthy destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

When it comes to dining, Parry Sound has a variety of restaurants to choose from. One of my favourites is Maurizio's Pizzeria which many argue makes the best pizza in town.

Log Cabin Inn is where to go for fine dining in a rustic setting, featuring local ingredients and flavours.

If you're in the mood for something casual, try one of the popular chip trucks in town, like Orr's Fine Meats & Deli, for some classic Canadian comfort food.

Also, not to be missed is Henry's Harbour, the newest location of the most famous fish and chips restaurant in Ontario.

The town is also a hub for artisans and Indigenous makers, with many shops and galleries showcasing their work.

The Wolf Den features beautiful Indigenous art, jewelry, handmade moccasins, and other traditional crafts.

For hockey and history buffs, the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame is a must-visit. Dedicated to the legendary hockey player who grew up in Parry Sound, the hall of fame features exhibits on Orr's career, as well as interactive displays and memorabilia.

After a day of exploring, head over to Trestle Brewing Company, a local craft brewery that offers a variety of beers brewed on-site. The brewery's riverside location is a picturesque setting to relax.

All around, Parry Sound's natural beauty, vibrant local culture, and relaxed atmosphere make it a good option in Ontario to escape the hustle and bustle of Toronto and surrender yourself to the calming charm of a small town.
