Toronto will soon have a new cheap option to escape to sunny Bermuda for just a couple hundred bucks, thanks to a new route set to launch this spring connecting Canadian travellers with the popular tourist destination in the Caribbean.

BermuDair announced that it will launch operations between Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on May 17, and commence service to Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) one week later on May 25.

And the best part? The tickets are now on sale at ultra-cheap introductory rates of $199 USD ($269.73 CAD) for one-way flights from Bermuda to Canada and $149 USD ($202.15 CAD) for one-way flights from either Toronto or Halifax to Bermuda, including taxes.

Travellers can scoop up these cheap tickets until April 10 before prices increase.

"There has been strong demand for travel between Bermuda and Canada and we're proud to continue delivering on our commitment to provide additional connectivity with these new routes," said Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir.

BermudAir will operate Embraer E175 aircraft on the new Canadian routes, flying out of Toronto three times per week with accommodations for 66 passengers — with 14 seats in a business cabin and 52 seats in an economy cabin.

Kurush Minocher, executive director for Airlines Relations and Customer Experience for GTAA, applauded the new route, saying, "With increased demand for travel to Bermuda this winter, BermudAir's new service will help connect travellers looking to escape to the beauty of the island. We are also pleased to welcome BermudAir, our newest international airline."

The new route comes amid something of a power vacuum for low-cost carriers following the demise of multiple budget airlines in recent months.

Lynx Air shut down operations in February, two years after launching, while Swoop Airlines was folded into WestJet's service in fall 2023, just five years after the discount airline launched.
