Toronto considered one of the best cities to travel alone

With travel restrictions loosened and summer quickly approaching, those who enjoy their own company the most might be in search of the next best destination for a solo-travel trip.

From setting your own itinerary to moving at your own pace, and having lots of time to reflect and ponder, solo travelling is an experience everyone should have at least once in their life.

And as long as you plan responsibly and do your diligent research, there's no reason why you shouldn't take a leap of faith and book a vacation just for your own pleasure.

However, it looks like GTA residents won't have to venture too far away, because Toronto must just be one of the best cities to travel alone to, according to an article by the U.S. News & World Report.

In fact, the city was ranked one out of the 33 best places to travel alone in 2023

"There are many reasons to travel solo, like the freedom of not having to coordinate with others' schedules and getting to spend time doing only what interested you most," reads the report.

Toronto managed to be the only Canadian location on the list, and was ranked among other top travel destinations like Thailand, New Zealand, Sydney, and New Orleans.

"Toronto offers a distinctly European feel close to home," the report says.

Among the must-see attractions in the city, the report highlights the CN Tower, Yonge-Dundas Square, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Toronto Zoo, Centre Island, and High Park.

Here are some of the best places to travel to alone in 2023, according to the report:

  1. Beaver Creek, Colorado
  2. Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
  3. Paris, France
  4. San Diego, California
  5. Rome, Italy
  6. Santa Fe, New Mexico
  7. Asheville, North Carolina
  8. Tuscany, Italy
  9. Santa Barbara, California
  10. Iceland
