Elon Musk's Starlink comes dead last in Canada internet provider ranking

Opensignal has posted its latest Fixed Broadband Experience report, which offers a deeper understanding of how people use their broadband connections.

Opensignal collected data from Oct. 1 to Dec. 29, 2024, detailing broadband internet speeds in several regions across Canada.

The key findings include Rogers having the fastest average download speeds nationally, with a score of 198.1Mbps, nearly 40Mbps ahead of Bell. Bell, on the other hand, offers the highest upload speed with a score of 109.9Mbps.

Bell and Rogers are tied for overall video experience nationally, with scores of 76.7-76.8 out of 100, landing in the "Very Good" tier. Rogers also retains the highest scores regarding consistent quality and reliability experience.

Regionally, Rogers tied or finished first in 20 of the 28 regional awards. Conversely, Bell has the fastest average upload speeds in Atlantic Provinces, Ontario, and Quebec, clocking in at 121Mbps in Quebec. Additionally, Eastlink has performed well for consistent quality, winning alongside Bell in the eastern provinces.

The Opensignal report also offers more details, showing that Starlink has the lowest consistent quality, lowest download speeds, lowest upload speeds, worst reliability experience and worst video experience nationally.
