Shocking Guerrero stat shows how rough 2026 has been for Toronto Blue Jays slugger

It's hard to fathom just how bad Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been for the Toronto Blue Jays this season.

After practically carrying the Blue Jays to Game 7 of the World Series less than one year ago, the 27-year-old has been in a slump so long many are worrying whether or not he'll ever dig himself out. In 103 games on the season, he's slashing just .265 with a shockingly low six home runs and 44 RBIs. 

Guerrero hasn't hit fewer than 23 home runs in a single season since 2021, and had eight in just 18 playoff games last year. It's as significant of a fall off as we've seen from any professional athlete during their prime years, and is made even worse after realizing that his last home run hit at Rogers Centre came during last year's postseason run.

Yes, you read that correctly. Guerrero's last home run at Rogers Centre came on Oct. 19 in Game 6 of the ALCS versus the Seattle Mariners. All six of his long balls this season have come on the road.

You can't help but feel for the Blue Jays first baseman, who has seemingly gone from a star-calibre talent to a replacement-level player in the blink of an eye. His 0.8 WAR this season proves just that.

Making matters even worse is that his struggles have severely impacted the Blue Jays, who sit last in the AL East with a 49-59 record. Their 425 runs-scored are dead last among all 30 MLB clubs.

With a playoff berth being a near impossibility at this point, Blue Jays fans are simply left hoping their $500 million man can get hot to close out the season. The good news in that regard is that he has been a streaky player throughout his career, though there have been zero indications suggesting he's close to turning things around.
