Ghana's dramatic victory at Toronto Stadium in its World Cup opener versus Panama set Toronto streets into a frenzy on Wednesday night, but even in the days leading up to kick-off, Ghanaians have been taking in all the city has to offer — and they're apparently having an awesome time in the process.
Whether you were watching Wednesday's match, caught wind of Ghana's king strutting around downtown Toronto, or were within earshot of the raucous post-game celebrations at Sankofa Square in the overnight hours, you've probably noticed Ghanaian flags and supporters around town.
blogTO caught up with some Ghana supporters ahead of their opener at Toronto Stadium on Wednesday, and it seems visitors from the West African nation are genuinely enjoying their time in Canada's largest city.
Visitors talked up the friendly locals, cultural diversity, walkability, and the city's ample public art installations, noting the "immaculate vibes" and bustling cityscape.
"It is very busy, it is big, it is loud, and we love it," said one visitor, while another stated, "It gives like New York City, but like cleaner vibes." We spoke to another Ghana supporter who echoed that sentiment, saying it almost feels "too clean."
