Toronto Blue Jays fans complain about annoying loud music at the Rogers Centre

Fans have warmly embraced the Rogers Centre's new Outfield District upgrades since their April debut, and another round of big changes is on the way this coming off-season.

However, if you ask fans about the in-stadium music during Toronto Blue Jays games, you might not get the same kind of glowing response.

Dozens of fans are speaking out about loud, repetitive, and near-constant music disrupting the fan experience during home games in response to a Reddit post questioning the choice and frequency of tunes played at the stadium.

Who can we email about them playing too much music at the game?

Reddit user CMurra87 posted to the Toronto Blue Jays subreddit this weekend, asking, "Who can we email about them playing too much music at the game?"

The post goes on to state, "I don't want to be a dick, but I've never seen a team play the cha cha slide/everybody clap your hands so much in a game. Like it has to be distracting to the players. It's just too much."

The user complains that the team plays a similar hype song at every single at-bat, an annoyance not present at other ballparks.

"I hate the Yankees, but I went to a game at Yankee Stadium this season, and they have it figured out from that standpoint. I'm sure other teams have it figured out too. I don't need a song to keep me engaged as a fan at the game."

Other Jays fans evidently agree with this assessment, as the post has garnered almost 100 comments — many echoing CMurra87's points.

"I'm seriously thinking about not renewing my ticket package next season," reads the most-upvoted response to the post, explaining, "The constant and unrelenting noise is the major reason."

Several Reddit users shared similar thoughts, including one fan who attended a game over the weekend and concluded that "Even with the outfield district renovations, the environment from the sound ops is completely grating and unbearable."

The user goes on to describe the ballpark experience at the Rogers Centre as "absolute garbage" and suggests that fans "collectively contact the Jays social media handles and Fan Feedback page."

Reddit comment threads may have a tendency to form a bit of an echo chamber. However, many of the critiques come from fans who have visited several other MLB ballparks and are basing their negative reactions on comparative experiences.

"I have been to 19 MLB parks and quite a few minor leagues," reads one comment, continuing, "We are the worst out of all the MLB parks that I know."

The Blue Jays organization is already aware of the issue, as a few commenters noted that they have already contacted the team over the barrage of hype music.

"I emailed them last week they seemed to take it pretty seriously," said one user, who added that they "complained about the frequency and the volume, and they went as far as asking the sections I sit in as to the volume being too loud."

The Toronto Blue Jays recently unveiled the second round of stadium upgrades due to begin this off-season. Before the start of the 2024 season, the Rogers Centre's lower bowl will be entirely rebuilt with reduced foul areas and other key changes to the fan experience.
