DISCO
DISCO is a fun disco-themed ice cream and cookie spot offering 12 flavours of ice cream along with sorbet.
Started by Gigi and Ozzy, DISCO is oozing with youthful energy. Inside, disco balls are suspended from the ceiling and posters from the disco era reinforce the store's theme.
The vibrant couple make their ice cream by themselves, in-house and ensure that the ingredients remain natural and fresh.
"We miss disco culture and the 70s and wanted to find a way to bring it back through our store," Ozzy tells blogTO.
The lights dim at DISCO in the evenings to allow the disco balls on display to illuminate the space and underscore the disco vibe.
Though Ozzy has had experience working with different kinds of ice-cream in his career he wanted to solely focus here on an American-style ice-cream made with sugar, milk and cream.
"We think that a lot of people associate ice cream and cookies with a sense of nostalgia since it brings back childhood memories. We want to serve our customers delicious ice cream flavours that connect them to the past and bring smiles on their faces," Ozzy notes.
A scoop of PB&J Sandwich ($5.25 for a single) is creamy and rich. Peanut butter and jelly work well as an ice cream flavour just as they do in sandwich form.
The sorbet flavours like Strawberry, Coconut and Mango Raspberry are good choices for anyone looking for vegan options.
DISCO's cookies ($4 each) are moist and flavourful and come in eight different flavours.
You can choose from varieties like Chocolate Chip, M&M, Birthday cake and Reese's Pieces.
You'll find silver disco sprinkles on their signature cookie "Disco Teddy" that is made with chocolate chunks and golden Oreos.
Ice cream sandwiches ($10 each) allow you to experiment with any cookie and ice cream flavour as you build your own appetizing treat.
Aside from ice cream and cookies, Disco Company also offers milkshakes and sells merchandise including disco-themed t-shirts.
Disco Company can be found at 1086 Queen Street West and is open from noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
