Cafe Blublu
Cafe BluBlu is serving up pastries, brunch, and plenty of coffee options near Bathurst and Dundas.
Inside, there's an open-concept kitchen with liberal use of wood elements, natural lighting and plants that creates a homey and soothing setting.
An archway in the centre leads to their dining space hidden at the back.
There are also plenty of intriguing artwork hanging on the wall including the inspiration behind the shop's logo, a chicken-like fish design named "Blublu" meant to mimic the sound of air bubbles escaping from fish swimming in water.
You can find a selection of pastries, and plenty of coffee and non-coffee drinks on offer here during the day.
Their Bread Pudding ($5) has a rich buttery flavour thanks to the use of croissant chunks, with a delicate sweet finish from the airy caramel cream topping.
The Mushroom Melt ($12) is a tasty breakfast option. Packed with thick layers of sautéed mushrooms, onion, and Gruyère cheese, this baguette sandwich is a straightforward yet delicious blend of umami flavours.
Their silky Matcha Latte ($5.50) is served in vintage tableware, giving a touch of elegance and uniqueness to each sip.
Lemonade Soda ($6) is zesty, refreshing, and a nice palate cleanser between bites.
For brunch options, the Duck Confit Egg Benny ($22) puts a little twist on the classic recipe. The tender and flavourful shredded duck confit is a solid match with the perfectly poached eggs and crispy golden-brown potato slices.
Generously topped with peach compote and fresh berries, their French Toast ($17) is fluffy and sweet, with a fresh touch from the mint leaves sprinkled on top.
Even though Café Blublu hasn't launched their dinner menu yet (they are expected to open dinner availability on October 20), we got a sneak peek.
All the plates in their dinner menu are in a la carte style, making them easily shareable with friends.
The Beet and Guanciale ($18) is slightly crunchy and earthy, topped savoury bacon bits and surrounded by a smooth sauce.
If you're looking for something unconventional, make sure to try the Fried Cod Tongue ($16). This traditional Newfoundland snack tastes surprisingly good, and has a puffy, jelly-like texture. It's fine to eat by itself, but adding a splash of lime juice makes it extra delightful.
Served with pearl onions, the Pan-Seared Red Snapper ($34) has a nice crispy skin and is glazed with white wine vinegar sauce to give a glossy finish.
There's a small patio on the side of the building so you can get some sun on a nice day while sipping coffee next to their little vegetable garden.
The brunch menu is available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with dinner planned for Wednesday-Sunday.
Cafe BluBlu is located at 374 Bathurst St.
