A massive new mixed-use complex has been proposed in the heart of Brampton, one that would contain the city's tallest buildings if realized as planned.

Developer Beyrose Capital has proposed a two-tower development at 17-35 Railroad St, calling for a pair of 58- and 55-storey towers with designs from Toronto's Architect Kirkor Architects Planners.

The towers, which are proposed at heights of approximately 191 and 182 metres, would be far taller than anything currently existing in Brampton.

The tallest buildings that exist in that city today are the 103-metre structure at 205 Queen East and the 94-metre tower at 45 Railroad, just next door to the proposal site.

However, a handful of even taller towers proposed elsewhere in the city could very well claim the title of Brampton's tallest before the 35 Railroad development comes to fruition.

Still, the plan for the property proposes a massive infusion of residential density just opposite Brampton GO station. A total of 1,628 residential units are proposed in a mix of unit types, split with 824 units in one tower and 804 in the other.

In addition to the residential density, the plan includes a small retail component of 405 square metres.

Much of this new community's transportation needs are expected to be served by the adjacent GO station, though a sizeable parking component of over 450 spaces is proposed within a three-level underground garage and additional space on levels 1, mezzanine, 2, and 3.

These above-grade parking areas will include an area dedicated to a crash wall along the site's Railroad Street frontage, a requirement of buildings in proximity to rail tracks.
