Everything you need to know about Fan Expo Canada 2024 in Toronto
Fan Expo Canada 2024 arrives in Toronto this week. Over 100,000 comic book, film, video game, anime, science fiction, and fantasy lovers will come together for four days of jam-packed fun and entertainment.
The annual convention is the largest comics and gaming event in Canada and the third-largest pop culture event in North America, with fans from all over the world uniting to meet their favourite artists, creators, and actors.
Whether you're planning to catch a glimpse of your favourite actor at the celebrity panels, watch professional comic artists battle it out, partake in workshops, buy a unique gift, or take photos with iconic costumed characters, this guide has got you covered.
Here's everything you need to know about Fan Expo Canada 2024.
If you're planning on attending the four-day convention, odds are you're hoping to scope out one of your favourite celebrities.
Luckily, there's a star-studded list of actors you can expect to see at this year's convention, including Simu Liu (Shang-Chi, Barbie), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Josh Gad (Frozen), Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man), and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad).
Other notable guests this year include Helen Hunt (Twister), Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian), Corbin Bleu (High School Musical), and Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical).
A slew of animation and anime voice actors are also set to make an appearance, including Ashley Eckstein (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Patrick Warburton (The Emperor's New Groove), Maile Flanagan (Naruto), and Megan Shipman (Spy x Family).
If you're hoping to snap pictures with your favourite celebrities, you can purchase photo opportunities directly on the Fan Expo website by searching for the name of the artist(s) you'd like to meet.
In many cases, admission for the day of the photo opportunity you are purchasing is a prerequisite, so make sure to buy your general ticket to the convention before you add on any photo ops.
You're welcome to have up to four individuals per photo op ticket unless otherwise noted on the talent sales page.
Autographs will be sold on-site at the guest's table, and selfies are generally not included in the price of the autograph.
Those attending are strongly encouraged to check in at the guest's table for the signing schedule, as autographs are not a timed event and are first-come, first-served.
If you haven't purchased your ticket for the convention, don't fret, because there are still lots of packages and dates to choose from. Four-day tickets start at $140 and go up to $579 for the VIP package (which has already sold out).
If you only want to pop in for one or two days of the convention, you can purchase single-day tickets online, which start at $39 for Thursday and go up to $71 for Saturday.
Family passes, youth admission, and child tickets are also available for purchase online.
This year, fans can look for a variety of special experiences, which can be purchased along with a general ticket for an added cost.
On Saturday, there will be a live screening of the 1996 classic Twister with Helen Hunt at Cineplex Cinemas Yonge & Dundas, which will include a 30-minute Q&A with the acclaimed actress herself.
Other special experiences include a live recording of the Trailer Park Boys podcast, "Park After Dark" on Friday.
Fan Expo Canada 2024 takes place between Aug. 22 to Aug. 25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, located at 255 Front St. W.
If you're planning on taking the TTC, your best bet is to head to Union Station or St. Andrew Station, both of which are located just a quick walk away from the convention.
Fan Expo has also partnered with Metrolinx to get fans to and from the event safely. You can add a GO roundtrip ticket from Union Station during checkout when buying tickets to the convention.
If you're heading in straight from the airport, you can ride the Union Pearson Express (UP Express), which connects Pearson Airport to Union Station in just 25 minutes.
