Bloor St. is shutting down this weekend for a street festival

An entire stretch of Bloor Street will be shutting down this weekend for a huge street festival.

Back for a 17th year, the annual BIG on Bloor Festival returns this weekend to celebrate the arts, culture and food of Bloordale.

The festival aims to bring together Toronto residents from the community and beyond to showcase the absolute best of the neighbourhood with art workshops and installations, live music performances and tasty treats.

You'll be able to peruse stalls from restaurants like Marry Me Mochi, Cargo Pizza and the Golden Grill Food Truck, or hit an extended patio at spots such as Taqueria El Pastorcito, Grey Tiger and Burdock Brewery.

The Museum of Toronto will be setting up an interactive exhibit at St. Clarens South where you can explore and appreciate the city's various green spaces, or you can attend art workshops that range anywhere from dance and music to collage and batik.

With an annual attendance of up to 100,000 people, the festival is, as its name would suggest, a big one — made only better by the fact that it's totally free to attend and open to visitors from across the city.

This year's BIG on Bloor Festival is taking place from 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 until 12 a.m. Monday, July 22 along Bloor West from Dufferin to Lansdowne.

If you're planning on getting out and about in the city this weekend, it's important to note that Bloor St. will be closed from Dufferin to Lansdowne starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday all the way through until 2 a.m. on Monday, July 22.

The street will not be reopening overnight for the duration of the festival, so plan your routes accordingly!
