2011 Polaris Prize shortlist announced
The Polaris Prize has announced the 10 finalists for the best Canadian album of the year. Whittled down from a list of 40, here's the shortlist for the $30,000 prize, which will be given out in Toronto on September 19th:
- Arcade Fire, The Suburbs
- Austra, Feel It Break
- Braids, Native Speaker
- Destroyer, Kaputt
- Galaxie, Tigre et Diesel
- Hey Rosetta!, Seeds
- Ron Sexsmith, Long Player, Late Bloomer
- Colin Stetson, New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges
- Timber Timbre, Creep On Creepin' On
- The Weeknd, House of Balloons
I'm taking Austra, but the winner of the Polaris is notoriously hard to predict. Any other guesses?
