Shary Boyle wins the Hnatyshyn award

Toronto-based artist Shary Boyle has won the 2010 Hnatyshyn Foundation Visual Arts Award. Funded by the late governor general Ray Hnatyshyn, the award is worth $25,000 and recognizes the "original perspectives" offered by Boyle's painting, sculpture and performance art.

The win comes a year after the artist took home the Gershon Iskowitz prize, which afforded her the ability to put on a major exhibition at the AGO. For a look at Boyle's work, check out our review of Flesh and Blood, which runs until December 6th.
