Pet sale ban debate put off until January

About 20 hopefuls looking to see the city ban the sale of cats and dogs from Toronto pet stores were told to sit on their pitch until January.

The city's licensing and standards committee said they needed staff recommendations and reports to consider the ban, so passed a motion to put off the matter until the New Year.

Committee vice-chair Coun. Denzil Minnan-Wong said he believes in the end the committee will support the ban. Still, some of the ban's proponents were displeased with today's decision yelling, "Shame on you!" at the committee and "You'll read about this in the media." Hah.
