Owen Pallett Oscar

Owen Pallett nominated for an Oscar

Toronto/Montreal musician Owen Pallett has been nominated for an Oscar along with Arcade Fire for their work soundtracking Spike Jonze's film Her. Sure Pallett now lives in Montreal, but we all know you can't just wash Toronto out of your hair like so much tour sludge.

Pallett recently confessed to us that "Scoring a film is running around hideous tourists in a rickshaw and then bickering about the fee," so it's nice to learn that his arduous work paid off with an Oscar nom - definitely the kind of thing you can bring up at family gatherings to prove you have your life sorted out. Congrats, Owen!

You can read the complete list of Oscar nominations here, including the usual suspects - Leo, Meryl, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, etc. One surprise for Toronto was the Oscars overlooking Sarah Polley's documentary Stories We Tell, which many were expecting to get a nod.

Who else got robbed? Let us know what you think of the nominations list in the comments.
