Hot Ticket for the week of May 15th - 21st
I've got a confession to make. I actually like a "Wolf" band. When "wolf ____" became the new hotbandnamecatchphrase last year, I cringed. But throw together Zeppelin guitar chords, wailing Sabbath vocals, a pinch of White Stripes, and songs about witchcraft & unicorns ... resistance is futile. Worship at the alter of Sydney's Wolfmother this Tuesday May 16th at the Opera House (735 Queen Street East). -- Beth
Is the term "Urban Soul" an oxymoron? While you're pondering that, also think about checking out Urban Soul Live this Thursday at Revival. The R&B/Soul music showcase features underground cats Kayte Burgess, Darp Malone, Ms. Davis, and Saidah Baba Talibah. Thursday May 18. 783 College St. W. (College and Shaw). -- Ryan
Aussie outfit Architecture in Helsinki plays Saturday at the Horseshoe. At the core of this indie pop band is spunky, happy, catchy music - the elements of which are all over the musical map. New wave, folk, boppy pop, marching band jigs combine to make schizo music at its finest. May 20th at the Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen St. West). -- Panthea
