The Gossip @ El Mocambo
Last night on a friend's recommendation I checked out The Gossip at El Mocambo.
This self described punk-soul-clash band rocked out hard and really got the crowd moving and practically moshing. To me they sounded like a queer-controller.controller, who also happened to be playing last night at Lee's.
I was especially impressed with lead singer Beth Ditto. Despite suffering from a cold, she had an incredible energy on stage and one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. I highly recommend checking out this band next time they come through.
...I nearly forgot. Beth also gave a heard felt speech where she called Toronto the greatest city in North America. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are.
