TIFF unveils opening and closing night films for 2024 festival

The films that will premiere at Roy Thomson Hall on opening and closing night of the 49th Toronto International Film Festival have been announced, in anticipation of the festival's return this fall.

On September 5th, David Gordon Green's Nutcrackers will be the first to grace the TIFF screens.

This comedy/drama follows a workaholic uncle (Ben Stiller) who suddenly becomes responsible for taking care of his rowdy, recently orphaned nephews.

Rebel Wilson's directorial debut, The Deb is set to close out the festival on September 15th.

A cast of rising Australian talent will star in this musical comedy, which will follow two cousins on their mission to find dates to a small town debutante ball and the journey towards self acceptance they undergo in the process.

The full festival schedule will be released on August 13th and tickets will go on sale for TIFF members based on their membership level, starting August 16th.

Visit the TIFF website for more information on ticket sales and key dates.
