Toronto Gift Guide: Jonathan Adler hashish candle

It's day number eight of my quest to find some of the best gifts in Toronto. Today's pick: Jonathan Adler Hashish candle. Is it just me, or did everyone in college use candles for the explicit purpose of covering up the smell of drugs? Doesn't a hashish-scented candle seem counter-intuitive? Since I happen to be a pretty big fan of NY designer Adler, I know that tongue-in-cheek is to be expected (needlepoint horoscope pillows, anyone?). Also, the scent is more like vague art-school nostalgia, and doesn't actually smell like you just hot-boxed your living room.

The ceramic vessel is filled with a wax perfumed with an earthy combination of black currant, green apple, wormwood, patchouli and moss.

Additional specs: 10.6 ounce double-wick candle, 3.75" high

Best for: Dudes. Candles can really improve the mood in a bachelor pad, and this one won't clash with the beer paraphernalia.

What it'll cost you: $90

Where to get it: Drake General Store, 1011 Yonge St (plus two other locations)
