Block Chairs and Holy Stump

Seeing Red at Thout

From wall to wall, floor to ceiling, it's hard to not take notice of the brightly red painted space next to the Drake Hotel General Store.

Entitled "In The Red", the award-winning, reputable design firm Thout has temporarily taken over the narrow space, to exhibit their popular and newer furniture designs while helping design aficionados beat the recession blues.

Burn Lamp and Forked Up

For this exhibit only, Thout has lowered their prices on some items in their collection. Granted, their stuff is still pretty expensive but it may be a brief opportunity to buy quality items from a firm that has garnered international awards and accolades.

But to pique our design interest and in hopes of bringing out our shier-than-usual wallets, one of the first Thout creations, the 'Holy Stump', is priced at $100 (marked down from $140). The 'Scribble' lamp made of cotton-coated electrical cord (which is currently being exhibited at a gallery in Milan) is selling for $600 (down from the regular price of $1600). The 'Nice Ash' table, located in the middle of the room, is now at $1000 (the regular price being $2500).

Thout's pop-up showroom is only open until Saturday, February 28th. Hours are from noon to 6pm.
