Oliveira, who hails from Brazil and moved to Toronto seven years ago, has a background in fashion and a history of working with models, and his journey in Toronto led him back to his roots in the world of fashion — but this time with a vintage twist.

His love for vintage began early, as he started buying vintage pieces at the age of 17. Fast forward to today, and everything he owns, from clothing to home furniture and decor, is steeped in vintage charm. 

Pic Vintage opened its doors on June 28, 2022 and has since become a treasure trove for vintage enthusiasts and history buffs alike. 

The store sells collectors' items, like a super-rare vintage Gucci bag from 1955 that's retailing for $3,889. 

One distinctive feature of Pic Vintage is its diverse sourcing strategy, with the owner curating items from all over the world.

"So every time I travel I tend to buy handbags, jewelry, anything that's small that will be very special. I'll bring items back from Mexico, Brazil, New York or anywhere I go," Oliveira told blogTO.

Local collectors in Toronto and across Canada also play a vital role in stocking Pic Vintage's shelves. These collectors specialize in specific styles or types of vintage items, spanning silk garments, high-end fashion, and more.

Pic Vintage also collaborates with a French company, which supplies high-end vintage items. Estate sales also provide a significant portion of their inventory, ensuring that vintage items with history and character find new homes (instead of ending up in the garbage).

In terms of pricing, Pic Vintage offers a broad range to accommodate different budgets. The majority of their inventory falls within the $30 to $250 range, with a few unique pieces priced higher due to their exceptional nature. 

However, what sets Pic Vintage apart is its commitment to preserving history and culture. Oliveira emphasizes that vintage is not just about fashion— it's a cultural experience, with the store playing a crucial role in rescuing valuable items that might otherwise be discarded.
