WORKFLOW: EMMA ONGMAN SOLO EXHIBITION

Workflow presents Cool Kids Never Die a solo exhibition by Emma Ongman @emmaongman at The Drake Hotel @Thedrakehotel curated by Kris Lodu @Kr____is.

Cool Kids Never Die is an exhibition of photographs intentionally created with “outdated” technology to document found words and uncanny compositions that I encounter day to day. Carrying around a lo-fi digital point-and-shoot camera in my pocket, I create archives of out-of-place objects, secrets, and mundane moments with elements of mystery and found poetry. These images include a mix of humourous and dark elements to create an authentic representation of both the positive and negative experiences in life. Growing up with an older brother on the autism spectrum, the uniqueness of individual perception has always resonated with me. As a result, my approach to photography is rooted in encouraging empathy and an understanding of differences, prompting viewers to reevaluate and challenge their own everyday reactions and perceptions of normalcy.
