Before email, cell phones or social media, anyone could take a few minutes to post their whereabouts for loved ones back home, providing a quick message in a unique way.

Postcards are popular among collectors. We suspect you might just have one or two on your fridge at home! We took a look through our more than 26,500 postcards in TPL Special Collections, and pulled out some of our favourites. Our collection focuses mainly on Toronto, of course, but the collection includes cards from all over Canada and some are made of unusual materials.

Visit the exhibit during Toronto Reference Library's operating hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 8:30pm, Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 1:30pm to 5:00pm. Please refer to the website (tpl.ca) for any hour changes or closures.

Free guided tours will take place on Tuesdays at 3:00pm during the exhibition run. No registration required for the tour. Please meet at the entrance of the TD Gallery which is on the first floor to the right of the elevators.
