White Noise
On July 25, 2014, Children’s Peace Theatre hosts its annual Peace Gala, celebrating the close of Peace Camp as well as all those who contributed to it. Peace Camp, a three-week program that takes place every July at Children’s Peace Theatre, brings a number of local professional artists together with youth and junior guides as they work in a collaborative effort with over 40 children aged 8-13 to create an original theatre production complete with a musical score and visual production pieces. The goal of Peace Camp is for children to explore relevant social issues and express their visions of peace through arts based methodology.
The theme of this year’s camp, aptly entitled White Noise, focuses on media awareness in an information age and also pays homage to Marshall McLuhan and the 50th anniversary of his book Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man, which first introduced his famous words “The Medium is the Message.”
