Whisky Masterclass

In celebration of its return home for the holiday season, Gooderham & Worts and Spirit of York are inviting people to join in the festive celebrations during the Distillery District Holiday Market and to participate in tastings and Masterclasses that celebrate all the virtues of its whisky heritage.

Dive into the rich history, exciting present, and bright future of Canadian whisky, with a focus on those produced in Toronto's historic Distillery District. Guests will be taken on a journey through ins and outs of the history, production, and tasting of 3 expressions of Canadian whisky. Wrapping up the experience with a whisky cocktail for each guest and instructions on how to recreate it at home.

Beginning November 24th and concluding December 30th, this Whisky masterclass should be added to your list of things to do this holiday season! Dave Mitton – Global Brand Ambassador – Canadian Whisky & Spirits

Dave has a great passion when it comes to enlightening people about the history, production and of course the creation of cocktails with Canadian Whisky.

He was a co-owner and operator of several well-known restaurants and bars in Toronto as well as the inaugural President of The Canadian Professional Bartenders Association, Ontario Chapter. His role allows him to keep up with his passion for traveling the world seeking out cocktail adventures, exploring new places and meeting the intriguing people who are behind them.

Colin MacDougall – National Brand Education Specialist & World Spirits Expert

Colin is a well-respected member of the bar and beverage community having gained accreditation in WSET and CSS. He is a seasoned beverage program consultant, an award-winning cocktail menu architect and has been a familiar face behind the bar as manager at a number of prestigious restaurants on Canada’s Pacific Coast including Melbas on the Park, West, Pourhouse and Blue Water Café.

Simon Ho – President, Spirit of York

Simon stepped into his role as the President of Spirit of York Distillery Co. to pursue his passion for spirits and the story telling which comes along with that. After spending almost two decades in the hospitality industry in every position from barback to owner, Simon is thrilled to be able to share his love for all things Spirit of York and its products.

Matt Driscoll – Master Distiller, Spirit of York

Matt has worked as one of the few distillers’ in Toronto for almost a decade making some of the city’s most highly regarded spirits. From a beet spirit to the city’s only Genever, Matt has seen and done it all. As Spirit of York’s Master Distiller, he hopes to push the boundaries of what’s possible within the industry and raise the distillery’s -- and all of Toronto’s -- reputation and profile in distilling world-class spirits.
