What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?
Guignol gets no grander, gargoyles no more garish than in Robert Aldrich's macabre cult classic WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?, a SUNSET BOULEVARD for the '60s that has become a pop-culture treasure trove.
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford tear into their roles as the bitterest of sisters — former child star "Baby Jane" Hudson and paraplegic, one-time up-and-comer Blanche, respectively — who now live a secluded existence holed up in a fetid Italianate villa in LA. While Davis' turn as the child vaudevillian turned alcoholic crone brought her a bevy of Best Actress nominations (including for the Academy Award), Crawford more than holds her own as the beleaguered Blanche, who turns out to be far from just an innocent victim of her sister's sadism.
