VARDA BY AGNÈS, much like the iconic director's work, brims with life. Largely consisting of lectures given by Varda in her later years, Varda offers a wide-ranging journey through her world, featuring flourishes of animation and punctuated by humour.

Premiering at Berlin a month after Varda passed, it's hard not to see VARDA BY AGNÈS as a eulogy. However, its takeaway is not a past-tense legacy, but a sense of how Varda lived through her films, of what she brought to the art form, and — the greatest gift — of finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. ✨
