Uncle Buck
One of The Second City’s most memorialized protégés, John Candy, appeared in more films directed or written by John Hughes (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) than any other actor. Candy plays the titular Uncle Buck, a good humoured, but slovenly man–child charged with looking after his nieces and nephew. The youngsters’ reception of their uncle varies from bemusement to teenage indignation. Featuring an eight-year old Gaby Hoffmann (Transparent) and a pre-Home Alone Macaulay Culkin, this beloved, salty-sweet comedy is a Candy classic.
