Transitions, solo show
"Transitions" The subtleties of change
“Transitions” a solo show by Colombian artist Carlos Delgado, and in partnership with Sur Gallery, explores the subtle emotional experiences we go through when faced with a big change in our life.
Known for his abstract portraits “Faces of the System,” which translate our human experience through vivid and widely organic process of paint etching and strong layering, Carlos Delgado is taking a new direction in this series of “Transitions, by inviting the subtle emotions into the forefront. Through use of added softness, a newer technique to his work, and deeply contrasting colours, “Transitions” invites us to give voice and space to the oftentimes contradictory and conflicting emotions experienced during a time of change. It is a series which asks us to embrace the complexities of transitions in our life and the widely beautiful, messy and amazing range of our human emotional selves.
Carlos Delgado is an internationally recognized artist living in Toronto whose work has been shown in Canada, Latin America and Europe. Focusing on capturing the subtleties of the tension of daily routine and a deeper human expression, his work becomes not only a social commentary but also a societal reflection of how we create the world around us and our role within it.
