Tony Taylor Solo Exhibition
OPENING RECEPTION: AUGUST 30th 6-10pm
"Art moves away from reality and invents something that may be ultimately more accurate about the world than what a photograph can depict.” - Howard Zinn
Tony Taylor’s work explores and challenges our understandings of man as a political animal. His paintings depict political events and gatherings of the animal powerhouses from the financial and political jungles. Replacing the faces of leaders and corporate representatives with those of animals, Tony seeks to reflect a truer sense of their characters and prompt us to reconsider and question the current global structures of power.
Tony Taylor received his BFA from OCAD University and a MFA in painting at the University of the Arts London in London, England. Taylor was the winner of the jury prize for ‘The Art of Resistance’ at Nipissing University in 2010, the OCAD Award at the Artist Project and in 2011, and was selected as one of the twenty ‘UNTAPPED’ artists in Canada.
