TO Old Book and Paper Show
OLD BOOK and PAPER SHOW, March 26, 2023
Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie Street
Jen Balogh's How Fetch Vintage is a veteran at the Old Book and Paper Show. She sums the show up nicely, "You can easily spend hours getting lost in the sheer amount of vintage paper here."
Visitors will find nothing digital at this event. Just vintage paper of all kinds and descriptions. Collectors and dealers in rare books, ephemera and old paper get together for TO's biggest sale of the year. On a nice rebound from Covid times, there will be seventy tables piled high at Wychwood Barns.
They're coming from all over. Six tables coming from Montreal, seven from London. And from the farthest reaches of rural Ontario, including Blenheim, Owen Sound, Midland and Orillia.
The greatest variety yet? Quite likely true, as three private collections are being offered for sale by people who have spent decades building collections of vintage paper and books. Old books and magazines about farming from the 1920's to 50's, also from the restaurant industry, same period, and sought-after repair manuals from Ford, Dodge and GM vehicles from the 60's.
First timers at Wychwood include the Fashion History Museum from Cambridge, releasing a pile of fashion-related paper from their vaults - over a thousand postcards, scores of photographs from the 1860s to the 1900s; Old paper packaging (chocolate boxes, shoe boxes, jewellery boxes etc.); sewing patterns from the 1930s to the 1980s; and fashion and movie magazines from the 50's and 60's.
The show takes place at Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie Street, on Sunday, March 26 from 10am until 4pm. Admission is $12 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Go to www.antiqueshowscanada.com
