The Scarborough Sign
Celebrate the last stop of The Scarborough Sign at Chinese Cultural Centre! On October 28, join Scarborough Arts, Cultural Hotspot, and Phoenix Academy of the Arts from 3-5 PM for a family-friendly celebratory bash with a hands-on calligraphy workshop, live performances, and food! The event is FREE and open to the public.
It's also your last chance to experience and interact with The Scarborough Sign featuring MEDIAH's new post-graffiti art piece, COHESIV'AA, painted live as part of Nuit Blanche Toronto. See you then!
ABOUT THE SCARBOROUGH SIGN
The Scarborough Sign is a community-developed public art initiative that showcases and brings together Scarborough’s many artistic communities through events, workshops, and a mobile art installation.
From June to October 2018, a life-sized ‘SCARBOROUGH’ sign travelled to six neighbourhoods across north and central Scarborough. At each location, The Sign displayed unique artworks by local artists and engaged local residents in multi-disciplinary arts events, accessible workshops, and site-specific art activities involving different art forms from textile arts, spoken word and poetry, calligraphy, and photography.
The Scarborough Sign is a pilot project produced in partnership with the City of Toronto's Cultural Hotspot project. Thank you to our major project partner, Department of Arts, Culture, and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough and McWood Studios.
