When The Period Purse began, Jana Girdauskas, the founder of the organization, had a goal of making one purse. A year into the mission and The Period Purse has handed out over 2,450 purses filled with various period products. The Period Purse is now supporting 500 local menstruators living in shelters, providing them with all needed period products, so they are not required to purchase these materials themselves.

On Sat. Apr. 21, The Period Purse is hosting a Packing Party in Toronto’s west-end. The community of volunteers will unite to pack purses with period products for individuals experiencing homelessness. Together, they will count tampons and pads to put into donated tote bags, each holding enough product for one person for one month.
