Thanks to the Internet's fierce Babadiscourse, we'll host a special Pride screening of Jennifer Kent's The Babadook July 5 in partnership with Inside Out LGBT Film Festival.

Late last year, a Tumblr thread floated the theory that the 2014 Australian horror film, specifically its eponymous monster, was a trove of queer subtext. When Netflix added The Babadook to its "LGBT Movies" list, the internet latched onto the endearing misdirection, giving birth to the latest meme sensation: Gay Babadook.

On the heels of Pride Month, it seems only appropriate to celebrate the newly christended queer icon. We're Babashook.
