The Barber of Seville

The Barber of Seville, Rossini’s delightfully chaotic and infectiously catchy comedy, returns to the Canadian Opera Company in a lively and exceptionally animated production from acclaimed Spanish theatre troupe Els Comediants.

The opera tells the story of Figaro, the title barber, who is looking to help his friend, Count Almaviva, win over his dream woman, Rosina. There’s one small problem though: as a wealthy orphan, Rosina’s a virtual prisoner of Doctor Bartolo, who’s angling to marry her himself.

Filled with razor-sharp jokes and memorable music, this audience favourite is great for families.

Fast-rising mezzo-soprano and COC Ensemble Studio graduate Emily D’Angelo returns to Toronto in her COC role debut as Rosina, opposite Italian baritone Vito Priante who makes his COC debut as the wily Figaro.
