The Annex Historical Tour

The Annex is one of Toronto’s elite neighbourhoods. Its first residents included the likes of Timothy Eaton (the patriarch of Eatons department store) and George Gooderham (president of the Gooderham and Worts Distillery). The Annex has had a very active Resident's Association since 1925; it was involved with saving the Annex from the proposed Spadina Expressway which would have divided the the neighbourhood in half had it been built, and is to very involved with the historical preservations of the community's homes (over 500 buildings in the Annex that are protected by the Toronto Historical Board).
