Tastes of Home Festival

Evergreen invites you to experience a day filled with culinary delights, music, and family-friendly activities at the one-day-only Tastes of Home Festival on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Evergreen Brick Works! Celebrate Toronto’s rich cultural diversity through mouth-watering dishes, live performances and interactive activities in the heart of the Don Valley. The festival will be free admission with some paid activities.

Tastes of Home’s food purveyors:

Tastes of Home celebrates the incredible diversity that defines Canada. With over 450 ethnic groups calling Canada home, this festival highlights just a few of the rich cultures that shape the nation's multicultural identity. Each food vendor brings their heritage to life through the dishes they serve, allowing festival-goers to experience the flavours, traditions, and stories behind the food. From savoury pupusas to smoky BBQ, these vendors showcase how food connects us all and reflects the unique contributions of every community.

Mexico, Ficoa will be serving up a Mexican-inspired meat dish consisting of Tamal de Barbacoa. They will also offer two vegetarian dishes.

Jamaica, Daddy Brown’s will offer a delicious Oxtail Poutine as their meat dish. Vegetarians can enjoy a refreshing Rasta Bowl.

Uzbekistan, Tyger Tyger Baked Bao brings flavours from Uzbekistan with their Lamb Chop Baked Bao as the main meat option. Vegetarians can enjoy their Vegetable Baked Bao.

USA (Texas), Shop The Carbon Bar will be serving up their famous Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich, smoked for 12 hours. For vegetarians, they’ll offer Vegan Empanadas.

Lebanon, Flour Power Mana'ish will be serving their savoury flatbread topped with spiced sausage. Vegetarian options include flatbreads with authentic Lebanese spices and dips.

Jamaica, Stush Patty is offering their classic Beef and Chicken Patties for meat lovers, with Lentil and Meatless Jerk Chicken Patties available for vegetarians. Be sure to try their signature Ting Pop beverage!

Brazil, We Barbecue will showcase a variety of skewered meats, while vegetarians can savour their Cherry Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella Skewer.

Brazil, We Burger will offer a mouth-watering Brazilian Burger for meat lovers, while their Veggie Burger is a great vegetarian option.

South Korea, So Daam will be serving up Korean flavours with their delectable Kimchi Fritters and tangy Kimchi Coleslaw.

Tibet, TC Tibetan Momo will serve Beef and Chicken Momo as their meat options. Vegetarians can enjoy Vegan and Cheese Momo, as well as Vegan Pasta Noodles.

NUTTEA will offer a variety of nut-based vegan drinks, including Coffee with Pistachio Nut Cream and Jasmine Tea with Nut Cream.

Sri Lanka, Reggies Inc. will bring the bold flavours of Sri Lanka with their variety of savoury rolls, including Mutton and Butter Chicken. Vegetarians can enjoy their Masala Dosa Rolls.

Philippines, Eats Manila will bring the vibrant flavours of the Philippines with their savoury Pork and Chicken Skewers. Vegetarians can enjoy dishes like Pansit, along with a variety of flavorful sides.

Canada, Jamies Cracked Corn will offer a variety of Gourmet Popcorn, perfect for snacking and the go while you enjoy all the fun activities at the Festival!

Serbia, The Queen Gypsy INC will transport you to Serbia with their mouth-watering Schnitzel on a freshly baked bun. Vegetarians can indulge in their flavorful Leek and Potato Bourek.

Jamaica, Fashion Chef Catering Ltd is offering tasty Jerk Chicken and BBQ Chicken Sandwiches for meat lovers, with Curry Chickpeas and deep-fried Festival Dough as vegetarian options.

Haiti, Square One Haitian Foods will serve Chicken, Beef, and Cod & Herring Fish Patties, paired with handmade fresh Hibiscus Tea.

El Salvador, Salvadorian Grill will be dishing up their freshly made Pupusas, filled with flavorful meats or hearty vegetarian ingredients.

WuBaEats will be offering an irresistible blend of Caribbean-Asian fusion with their signature OG Pork Belly Bao and Island Jerk Chicken Bao. For vegetarians, they’ll serve up a flavorful Special Veg Bao.

Japan, Hey!Mom|Onigiri will bring Japanese flavors with Spicy Salmon Onigiri and Chili Lobster Onigiri for meat lovers, and Broccoli Curry Miso and Creamy Corn Onigiri for vegetarians.

Activities at Tastes of Home

Live Music: The mood will be set with a vibrant mix of live performances from DJ Me Time and DJ Sonic Griot (⅓ of group Afrique Like Me). These performances are sure to bring an upbeat and lively ambiance to the festival!

Rice World: We invite families to dive into Rice World, where interactive workshops and playful activities highlight how different cultures cook with rice. Kids will receive a passport upon entry, collecting stamps as they explore and complete various activities.

Shopping: Don’t forget to stop by the mini-market! Hosted by Evergreen Garden Market, featuring food-themed products from local artisans that are perfect for shopping and souvenirs.

Food and wine pairing class: At 4:00PM, a food and wine pairing class guided by sommelier Beverly Crandon will provide a delightful experience for wine enthusiasts on how to pair global cuisines with wines. Register HERE.
