Swordplay: A Play of Swords at Comedy On Queen Street
A swashbuckling adventure comedy where no plot is untwisted, no bad guy unstabbed, and no chandelier unswung!
Toronto-based comedy company Sex T-Rex is remounting their most beloved and acclaimed one act show, SwordPlay: A Play of Swords, as a part of Bad Dog Theatre's Comedy on Queen festival at the Assembly theatre. Originally produced in 2015, SwordPlay is a loving parody of the swashbuckling genre mixed with retro video games, drawing on The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy to name a few. SwordPlay toured the Canadian Fringe circuit to rave reviews and multiple awards (Just For Laughs Best Comedy 2015, Atlantic Fringe Best Comedy 2016, Pick of the Vancouver Fringe, 2017, B.C. Touring Council Award 2017) and ran at the Next Stage and Kick and Push theatre festivals. Despite this long history, SwordPlay has not run since 2018, and the time has come to show a new generation of young comedians Sex T-Rex's signature cinematic style of comedy.
