Stupid Hackathon Toronto 5.0

Do you like building shit, but occasionally worry that it’s pretty crap? Does fear of having to finish a project scare you from starting? Have you stopped participating in hackathons out of embarrassment at the stupid shit that comes out of them? Do you have trouble with ethics about the role of technology within society? Do you sometimes wonder what the purpose of life really is?

Well, we can’t help you with the last one, but for the rest, The Stupid Shit No One Needs & Terrible Ideas Hackathon Toronto: a hackathon dedicated to creating things that have absolutely no value could be the event for you.

After a truly terrible two years, we’re back and worse than ever! Like any hackathon, participants are given time and collaboration opportunities to work with others, but with a twist: participants are encouraged to create genuinely bad ideas. We cap the event off with the Terrible Job Fair and Demo Day where participants share their Stupid Shit with the other attendees, and observers who come along just for the demos. The dates this year are Oct. 14th and 15th.

A hardware library with cameras, Arduinos, Raspberries Pi, Cutting Edge "Electronic" Sensors, and more will be available to aid in creating your stupid pointless garbage idea. No tech expertise is required. Participants can either bring a group, or show up and meet some new people to work with.
