Slow Rise Music: Fair Use

Slow Rise Music is proud to announce its second production, Fair Use, a live and live-streaming show presented at Native Earth’s Aki Studio (in Daniels Spectrum). Fair Use will feature a cohesive programme of contemporary Canadian vocal music around a theme of cultural reference and quotation performed by soprano McKenzie Warriner, mezzo-soprano Máiri Demings, tenor Jacob Abrahamse, bass Tristan Zaba, and pianist Zain Solinski, with music by composers including Laura Gow, Massimo Guida, Kiara Nathaniel, Bekah Simms, Kitty Xiao, and Tristan Zaba. The majority of these pieces will be both world premieres and new commissions by Slow Rise Music, in many cases set to new texts by contemporary Canadian poets including Genova, Jessica Hiemstra, and Kathryn Knowles. Tickets to physically attend Fair Use on September 10, 2022 at 7:30PM EST can be purchased from Aki Studio’s Box Office. Alternatively, Fair Use will be viewable as a YouTube livestream for no charge aside from an optional donation to Slow Rise Music’s gofundme campaign. More information at slowrisemusic.ca. This project is generously supported by the SOCAN Foundation and private donors.
