For the August instalment of SATURDAY NIGHT ROCKERS we have teamed up with local DJ & Reggae Promoter extraordinaire NOBLE WORKS who has arranged for a bona fide reggae legend to take control of our humble stage for the evening - Studio One recording artist OTIS GAYLE!

Otis started his career as a vocalist with the early rocksteady / reggae band THE VIRTUES as well as the legendary BYRON LEE & THE DRAGONAIRES, touring extensively with both groups, laying the groundwork for reggae to eventually become a world wide phenomenon.

He also recorded as a solo artist, most notably with COXONE DODD at Studio One with his version of the Detroit Spinners tune ‘I’ll Be Around’. And after moving to Canada he was one of the first Black artists to win a Juno Award in 1985 with the tune ‘Heaven Must Have Sent You’ alongside powerhouse LIBERTY SILVER.

Since returning home to Jamaica in 2005, Toronto appearances are truly rare. Don’t miss this opportunity!

`For this special performance, backing up Mr. Gayle will be always tight and always heavy Brothers in Dub - THE DUB CHRONICLES !!!

NOBLE WORKS will control the decks between sets … and may even bring some guest selectors along for good measure.

And of course, your Master (and slave) of Ceremonies for the evening will be the great CLIFTON JOSEPH.
