Rose Beef
WELCOME TO ROSE BEEF!
Sunday evenings from 7-9pm, Glad Day hosts a Sunday Dinner with a curated comfort food menu to accompany a suite of episodes of Our Favorite Ladies.
The evening is hosted by Toronto's Notorious #SlopQueen Mikiki Burino! Our fair city's 'Aging-Out'est Drag Queen!
There will be post-episode quizzes with PRIZES (!!!) and a Talk-Back after our mini-marathon to figure out if there is any relevance to the Girls’ parables from these shows in our post-truth cultural moment.
Delicious Golden Girls-themed menu items and drink specials, featured books from the archive relating to the themes or the time of the season, and of course, the inimitable Mikiki themself.
Mikiki is a performance and video artist and queer community health activist of Acadian/Mi’kmaq and Irish descent from Newfoundland. Their work has been shown in Artist-Run Centres, Public Galleries, Performance Festivals and self-produced interventions throughout Canada. Mikiki has worked across the country as a Sexuality Educator in public schools, a Bathhouse Attendant, a Drag Queen Karaoke Hostess, a Gay Men's Health & Wellness Outreach Worker, a Harm Reduction Street Outreach Worker and an HIV tester. They use this wealth of knowledge and experience to turn the text of THE GOLDEN GIRLS into an occasion for community catechesis and intervention through fun, thought-provoking "sermons" on its themes.
