Friday, July 6, 2018 | 5:30-10:00pm - Jeremy Ledbetter Trio
Forged in a cauldron of raging, inspiring contemporary jazz, the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio features three Canadian virtuosos — pianist and bandleader Jeremy Ledbetter (CaneFire), drummer Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy), and bassist Rich Brown (rinsethealgorithm) — at the absolute top of their game.
Jeremy Ledbetter Trio’s debut album, “Got a Light?”, is a controlled explosion of big musical ideas, stylistic variety, vivid colours, and compelling musical storytelling. Forged in an interstellar collision of contemporary jazz and world music, Ledbetter’s compositions form a style that is truly organic and uniquely his own. “Working in the trio format with musicians like Larnell and Rich really inspired me to work without a net, compositionally,” says Ledbetter. “This album is about painting pictures and creating a cinematic atmosphere. It’s a contemporary jazz album that’s telling stories I hope everyone will be able to understand and relate to.”
Friday, July 13, 2018 | 5:30-10:00pm - The Sinners Choir
A trio comprised of three generations of seasoned Toronto sidemen: bassist Terry Wilkins, drummer Adam Warner and guitarist Adam Beer-Colacino. The Sinners Choir takes each player out of their sideman role and allows them to showcase themselves as singers and composers with an unusually resonant three part harmony. This is not an every day occurrence in this music business.
The band writes original music based on the last one hundred years of American music and presents itself with both a gritty and a sweet approach. They have a 12 song all original CD entitled ‘The Sinners Choir Vol. 2’ which was recorded in Mono Township in late winter.
Friday, July 20, 2018 | 5:30-10:00pm - Avery Raquel
Having released three solo albums, and only 16 years old, contemporary soul, R&B, and jazz singer/songwriter Avery Raquel has been making her mark. Avery has performed at festivals and venues from Newport to NYC to Toronto and beyond, sharing the stage with some of the world’s top jazz and R&B artists like David Clayton-Thomas, Molly Johnson, and Matt Dusk, to name a few. It’s clear that her compelling lyrics and strong soulful vocals belie her years.
Friday, July 27, 2018 | 5:30-10:00pm - The Rich Brown Trio
Rich Brown and his trio -- featuring Jeremy Ledbetter on piano, and Marito Marques on drums -- set out on a journey to explore disparate musical influences from around the globe. The music ranges from highly-charged to moody and introspective with a major emphasis placed on improvisation. Each performance is just as exciting for the trio as it is for the listener.
