Refugee Art Project

This is a showcase by the Toronto Global Shapers.

THE ARTS SHOWCASE 🎨

The Toronto Global Shapers will be hosting the Refugee Art Project, a multimedia showcase featuring art and live performances in support of Love Without Borders, a grassroots organization that directly helps hundreds of refugees with their basic needs. The event follows in the footsteps of cities like Global Shapers - San Francisco Hub, Washington DC Global Shapers and Global Shapers Ottawa to engage the Toronto community in informed dialogue and celebrate the dignity of others through art and culture.

The artwork on site that will be showcased has been made by children living in camps and housing communities in Greece. With this showcase, we not only hope to celebrate Canada’s large intake of refugees, but also provide a space for discussion regarding what we, as global citizens, can do to help amidst this crisis.

This event is proudly supported by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO : "The Canadian Commission for UNESCO applaud the efforts of the Global Shapers Community, Toronto Hub who use the power of the arts as a mean to promote diversity and inclusion."

THE CAUSE 🎗️

Founded in 2016 by American aid worker Kayra Martinez, Love Without Borders is a registered non-profit that provides therapeutic art workshops for refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cameroon etc. living in camps and housing communities in Greece.

Ms. Martinez has formed a traveling exhibition of art from her programs that has been shown throughout the United States, Canada, South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and across Europe.
