MARCH ROUTE: Our final destination will be QUEEN'S PARK.
From Yonge Dundas, we will be marching WEST along Dundas and then turning NORTH onto University Ave, marching towards Queen's Park.
The Ontario government’s new OSAP plan:
- Eliminates the six-month grace period on loans
- Eliminates free tuition for low-income families
- Shifts from mostly grant-based to mostly loans-based funding
- Will force colleges and universities to absorb the loss of revenue from the 10% tuition cut, inevitably making students pay the brunt of the cost
In 2012, the Quebec government decided to raise tuition rates. In response, a quarter of a million students took to the streets to demand change. The result was a halting of tuition increases. This year, The Ontario government has decided to target our right to education through the recent OSAP reform. All students will be affected, and now it is our time to tell the government that we will not sit in silence.
We will be marching from Toronto’s core, Yonge-Dundas Square, to Queen’s Park. Bring your signs, bring your voices, and dress warmly! This is a peaceful protest!
