Pop By The Rink!

Harbourfront Centre’s new festival NORDEN: The Festival of Cool presents a “cool” new music experience to complement skating on the city’s most scenic outdoor ice rink. Pop by the Rink! for a series of FREE music events on the lakeside Natrel Rink, with live performances by acclaimed artists from Denmark, Greenland, Iceland and Norway.

Hildur – Friday, November 30 (8:00 p.m.): Solo artist, songwriter and lyricist Hildur, one of Iceland’s fastest rising stars, makes her first-ever Canadian performance. Her first single “I’ll Walk with You” landed #1 on the Icelandic radio chart and won for Pop Song of the Year at the 2017 Icelandic Music Awards.

WhoMadeWho – Friday, November 30 (9:30 p.m.): Denmark’s experimental dance band WhoMadeWho burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s and have been touring nonstop for the past 10 years including with electronic duo, Daft Punk. Don’t miss this rare Canadian performance showcasing the band’s fusion-defying sound of rock and roll, electric-pop, techno and indie music.

Annie – Saturday, December 1 (8:00 p.m.): Norway’s Queen of Pop Annie brings her spin of pop, disco, dance and cool techno tunes in this special edition of DJ Skate Night.

Nive and the Deer Children – Sunday, December 2 (4:30 p.m.): Greenland’s’ charismatic Inuk folk-pop singer Nive Nielsen and her band the Deer Children play original hummable folk melodies with a streak of vocal jazz and cowboy ballads with mischievous charm.
