Painting By Numbers a New Comedic Caper going up at the Toronto Fringe Festival

Fresh Palette Theatre Company is proud to premiere its inaugural play, “Painting By Numbers” at the 2024 Toronto Fringe Festival. A comedy made by emerging artists for emerging artists, “Painting By Numbers” follows the journey of Vincent Van Gogh’s lost masterpiece, stolen, under the cover of darkness by Stevie Fitzgerald, a humble cleaner at an art depot. As Stevie brings the painting home he is confronted by his no-nonsense sister, Leila, who he entangles into the nonsensical whirlwind of intrigue that follows. The plot thickens as Leila's secret lover, the esteemed Wilfred Manchester III, launches a daring mission to salvage his family's honor by recovering the stolen artwork. And then there is Leila’s ever-curious best friend, Vanessa, whose fascination with the painting adds the critical layer of desperation and mystery into this comedic caper. As events unravel and true motives are revealed, a question emerges “ Is this painting the true masterpiece that everyone thinks it is?”

Feelings are hurt, codes are switched, headlines are made, and will someone just tell the truth already?! Grab your palette and brush, and enjoy this story of artful antics that will have you on the edge of your seat – or rather, the edge of your canvas – from start to finish.

Tickets are available for purchase at-the-door for $18 pending availability (card only. Or you can go online to fringetoronto.com and search "Painting By Numbers" and buy tickets there.
