A Finnish documentary, Eastern Memories by Martti Kaartinen and Niklas Kullstrom, will be screening at Nordic Nights. It retraces the travels of a Finnish linguist, scholar, and envoy Gustaf Johan Ramstedt (1873-1950) to Mongolia and the Far East. Notes from his diaries form the narrative as we discover the places and people as they are today. Ramstedt is our witness of the past, holding the mirror of the present. He ventured from cities to unmapped territories, learned Mongolian and other local languges and created a respected body of research.

Free admission, doors open at 6 pm, screening starts at 6.30 pm. Preceeded by two short films by Ryerson University School of Image arts students
